I painted this on location at the Water Ranch Riparian Area, Gilbert, AZ on November 23, 2009. Due to a lack of rain recently, everything seemed dry and uninteresting to me until I spotted this scene across the lake. The dry conditions plus the morning sun really brought out the reds.
